Nutriseed Loves Cold-Pressed Juicing
Cold-pressed juices have no doubt taken the nutritional world by storm, both here in the UK and all around the world. At Nutriseed we eat, sleep and live natural nutrition, and so we’ve had cold-pressed juices on our minds for quite some time.
The turning point for us at Nutriseed was hearing the story of Joe Cross, an Australian who turned his life around simply be taking up a juicing diet. More on him later. First things first…
What Are Cold-Pressed Juices?
The clue here, is in the name. Put simply, by keeping the juice cool during the juicing process, more essential nutrients are retained, making for a healthier, more nutritionally beneficial juice. A more traditional, centrifugal juicer will heat the juice as part of the process, oxidizing the nutrients, rendering it less powerful and nutritionally sound.
Cold-pressed juices on the other hand are made by gently pressing fruit and vegetables together, for the highest juice yield. As this process does not produce heat, more of those vital fresh nutrients, enzymes, vitamins and minerals are kept intact. This makes the juice healthier, and taste even better too.
What Are The Benefits of Cold-Pressed Juices?
Cold-pressed juices are more nutritionally dense than pasteurised juice, full of live enzymes vitamins and minerals. There are a number of benefits of doing so:
- Drinking cold-pressed juices floods the body with nothing but vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
- It enables rapid assimilation of nutrients to satisfy hunger and promote weight loss.
- Antioxidants in the juice help to drive the elimination of toxins that can help to rejuvenate the skin.
- The natural enzymes and antioxidants contribute to a stronger immune system, helping to protect from disease and speed up recovery from illnesses.
- Cold-pressed juices can increase energy levels and support a busy daily routine without the need for energizers such as caffeine.
How To Make The Perfect Juice
When creating home-made juices, at Nutriseed we believe in the 80/20 rule; 80% vegetables and 20% fruit. This ensures the avoidance of too much sugar intake from the fruit. For example, one of the favourites here at Nutriseed consists of kale, cucumber, apples, parsley and organic spirulina.
What Is A Cold-Pressed Juice Cleanse?
A cold-pressed juice cleanse is a temporary fast whereby only juice is consumed, and no solid foods. Think of it as giving your digestive system a break; a chance to recharge, by providing it with nothing but fresh goodness, with optimum nutrients, vitamins and minerals. These fasts commonly last from 1 to 5 days, but there are some people that go for up to 60 days, consuming nothing but cold-pressed fruit and vegetable juices.
Joe Cross – Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead
Joe Cross is an Australian entrepreneur and filmmaker, who in 2005 weighed 22 stone (140kg), and suffered from chronic urticaria; an autoimmune condition that translates into a constant bodily skin rash. His diet consisted mainly of processed foods, and he was regular drinker and smoker. For years Cross took traditional medication and tried various diets to combat his condition, but nothing seemed to give him the help he so desperately needed. Doctors informed Cross that he would die early should he not change his lifestyle.
Cross embarked on a 60-day juice cleanse – consuming nothing but cold-pressed juices for the duration of this period. The results were staggering. After the 60 days, he lost 100 pounds (45kg) and a reported complete loss of his uticaria symptoms.
Lucky for us, Cross documented his experience in a film called Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead, where he takes you on the journey through all of the stages of his experience. We encourage anyone with an interest in health and wellbeing to watch this (link below); it demonstrates how changing a diet can have life-changing consequences for the better.
